Chaplaincy and Care Ministry has recently endorsed Paul Birnbaum as a new chaplain in the CRC. Learn more about his journey and ministry:
I grew up in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Competitive running was a big part of my life in High School and eventually at Kansas State University.
Towards the end of college, I became passionate about working with young people as I served as camp counselor at a parachurch ministry. After college, I went into social work and worked with at-risk youth. During this time, I met my wife Sarah. We have been married 20 years and have 3 children (ages 18,15, and 9). I have served as a parish pastor for over 10 years.
Over the past year I have transitioned into bi-vocational ministry. I work as a hospital chaplain at Monument hospital in Rapid City, SD and also sell furniture 2 days a week.
As a hospital chaplain I have thrived ministering to a diverse population during challenging times.
I enjoy outdoor activities like biking, kayaking, hiking, fly-fishing and trips to the ocean.
Welcome Paul!
