What is a Regional/Affinity Group Connector?
Regional Connectors are available to support your congregation and ministry leaders by connecting them with denominational resources so you can thrive in the ministry God has given you. Each of our connectors serve a region of the CRCNA. In addition, our Affinity Group Connectors are the point people for our Hispanic, Korean, and youth/young adult members.
What region or affinity group do you serve?
Arizona, California South, Central California, Columbia, Greater Los Angeles, Hanmi, Ko-Am, North Cascades, Pacific Northwest, Red Mesa, Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone.
The Western USA is a vast area with diversity. Many ethnic churches are planted and continue to grow in the region.
How did you come into your role?
My family immigrated to the U.S. when I was 11 years old, and we began attending a Christian Reformed Church (CRC). During high school, I made a vow to become a missionary, and God blessed me with a husband who shared the same passion for missions. After we had our first child, we both attended Calvin Theological Seminary to prepare for missionary work. Even before we graduated, we were appointed as missionaries to Mexico through Christian Reformed World Mission (now Resonate Global Mission), and we have been faithfully serving in Mexico for the past 24 years.
Growing up as an immigrant, I witnessed how language and cultural differences made it challenging for pastors to get involved in the denomination. By understanding and speaking different languages, I hope to help pastors bridge these gaps and connect more effectively with the denomination.
In what area of ministry are you most passionate about encouraging and equipping congregations?
My passion lies in spiritual formation and women's ministry, where I find deep fulfillment in helping others grow closer to God. I believe that cultivating a strong, personal relationship with God is essential for every believer, but this growth cannot happen in isolation. Christians need to be an active part of a faith community, where they can support one another, learn together, and be encouraged in their spiritual journeys. Through fellowship and shared experiences, we are able to mature in our faith and develop a deeper understanding of God's presence and purpose in our lives.
