Diaconal Ministries Canada is pleased to announce the 2018 Operation Manna Offering for Canadian CRCs will take place on May 6th, 2018. Operation Manna (OM) helps churches across Canada create and grow ministries that reach out to their communities with the love of Christ.
This year's theme is...
INVITING THE STRANGER IN — “For I was a stranger, and you invited me in. Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”. w 25:35b & 40b
Our 2018 Campaign features two OM partners that are reaching out to refugees in their community:
Chaplain & Refugee Support Mobilizer position, Dena Nicolai (Vancouver First CRC, BC) — A chaplaincy position at Vancouver First CRC that connects with the federal government refugee Welcome Centre which opened in May 2016. The OM Partnership allows Dena to continue on in this position and to solidify sustainable sources of funding and identify supportive partnerships with local churches and organizations, with the goal of walking well in transformative relationship with newcomers who arrive in Canada as refugees.
Camp Shout (Jubilee Fellowship CRC, St Catharines, ON) — Camp Shout is a multi-week summer day camp. Over the past couple of years, they have expanded their ministry to be a safe and welcoming place for refugee families. The OM Partnership has helped the Camper Support Program which will include developing young leaders in training and the ongoing use of a resource teacher with ESL skills.
