Professing Our Faith Toolkit

When Synod 2011 opened the Lord’s Supper to all baptized believers, some folks wondered what that decision would do to traditional profession of faith practices. Admittedly, professing one’s faith in public can be a bit daunting, and there was concern that many CRC members might take a pass on affirming their baptism with a public profession.

Some CRC churches have actually experienced a decline in professions, and are wondering what to do about it. But many CRC churches have developed an amazing variety of creative, welcoming profession of faith practices to encourage people of all ages and abilities to celebrate this important faith milestone.

Evidence of that abounds in the new Professing Our Faith toolkit from Faith Formation Ministries (FFM), where CRC churches have generously shared resources and practices they’ve developed to celebrate with people who are ready to affirm their baptism. FFM staff gathered those ideas plus dozens of others into a free online resource collection that CRC churches can access any time.

In the Professing Our Faith toolkit you’ll find practical, creative resources for encouraging a culture of commitment in your church, preparing people to profess their faith, planning a welcoming council conversation, celebrating profession of faith in worship, and more.
