The Ontario Office of the Registrar General has extended the three month validity period for Marriage Licences in Ontario. Unused marriage licences purchased between December 1 2019 and the termination date of the province-wide declaration of emergency made on March 17, 2020 are included in this extension. Such licenses are now valid from the date of issuance up to 24 months from the first day following the end of the province-wide emergency.
This does not include licences where there has been a change to critical information on the license since the date it was issued.
Any licences issued after the end of the emergency order must be used within the three-months following issuance of the licence.
Further information about this can be found at ServiceOntario.ca/GettingMarried or by calling the dedicated Ontario Marriage Office helpline (807)343-7568
