I wrote my book, The Temple Curtain, for children 8-14. It is a well researched, historical fiction book, telling the story of a Palestinian family living in Jerusalem in Jesus' day. The book includes descriptions of their Passover meal and the activities of the priests in the Temple. Jesus' healing ministry, death, resurrection, ascension, Pentecost, and the spread of the church as persecuted Christians flee Jerusalem are also worked into the narrative. The story makes clear the significance of the tearing of the temple curtain in Jerusalem and the moment of Jesus' death. The book shows how accepting Jesus as the Messiah changes the family members, especially twelve-year-old Nathan.

On my website, RuthDeYoung.com, you can see the cover, read the first chapter, read reviews of the book, and examine ideas for activities and questions which I've written for each of the chapters. The book is especially suited to the seasons of Lent and Easter.

If you feel that the book would be used in your church library or education programs, I am willing to give you either an e-book version or a print version of the book. Send a request to: [email protected].
