Global Coffee Break, Small Groups
In early June, Sunlight Community Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, graciously hosted a Discover Your Bible training. More and more churches are being introduced to the discovery method and materials that were first developed and designed by Coffee Break. Today men and women are finding the Discover Your Bible (DYB) material to be a valuable ministry tool for outreach and discipleship. Jason Palm, the executive pastor at Sunlight, greatly appreciates the materials and feels that they are very valuable for men as well as women. Ashley Lancelot, who helps organize and support small groups at Sunlight, feels that the discovery method helps her understand the Bible as well as minister to friends unfamiliar with its content. Sunlight currently use the DYB materials at a number of their community groups.
The training at Sunlight was done in English and translated into Spanish. Iglesia El Buen Samaritano, a Spanish speaking church in Miami, sent nine people from their church to the event. They are using the DYB material with their community groups. The church creatively personalized the core Coffee Break identity by calling their groups “Amistad Y Cafe” (friendship and coffee).
Another valuable outcome of the training was to train Libna Sierra to lead Coffee Break and Discover Your Bible workshops in Spanish. Libna has many talents and is fluent in both English and Spanish. God is opening doors to make Discover Your Bible resources and training available to Spanish congregations across North America.
