"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." I John 4:8

We were all created with a built in need for love, just as a car has a built-in need for fuel. In this way, God created us to be dependent on himself.

Dr. G. Campbell Morgan, a great Bible expositor tells of walking one day by the ocean. He watched small children play in the sand. They were digging a hole with their little shovels. He stopped to ask them why they were doing that. "We want to see if the ocean can fill it," they answered. The children and the great preacher watched together so see what would happen. The tide was coming in, so waves broke nearer and nearer.

Finally, a wave swept over the hole and rolled back into the ocean. The hole was full to the brim and the great boundless ocean lay behind it. So does the love of God fill our lives to overflowing—and that which is left is like the immensity of the unmeasured ocean!

After we receive his love, God asks that we return it to him and show it in service to others we can help.

God sees the little sparrow fall
It meets his tender view.
If God so loves the little birds
I know he loves me too.
He loves me too, he loves me too,
If God so loves the little things
I know he loves me too.
