Reviewing the 2026 CRCNA Giving and Worship Attendance Report: Stability

The Advancement Department of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) recently conducted a brief, five-question survey of our denomination’s churches. Focusing on a comparison of giving and worship attendance between 2024 and 2025, this survey was designed to capture a snapshot of what churches are experiencing. A total of 158 CRC churches completed the survey.  The data collected from this survey were compared to the results of an identical survey conducted by Horizons Stewardship.  You can find and review our report “Findings on CRC Giving and Worship Attendance” HERE. 

Here are some interesting observations I found while reviewing the data. Note that this is an informational and non-scientific survey and not representative of all CRCNA Churches and contexts. 

• Church attendance in CRC churches with budgets under $100,000 increased more than the national average. 

This is an indicator that the work of church planting that the CRCNA has engaged in is working! The small churches are growing!

• Church giving in the $100k - 499k and $500k - 999k ranges has been more stable than the national average, and fewer churches in these ranges decreased in giving as compared to the national average. 

Giving is stable! Something that we have unofficially noted is that long-term donors who have given consistently to CRCNA denominational ministries since at least 1995 have at least increased their giving matching the pace of inflation. 

Unfortunately we have some room to improve: 

•  In CRC churches that have increased giving in the past year, the increase is less than the national average.
