Nourishing the Spirit and Body

Take a deep breath, a good look at your family and friends, and dive right in to emerge some time during the first week of January. Does that sum up your experience of the Advent-Christmas-New Year season? With all the extra services to plan for and all the rehearsals it may just feel like you don’t see your family till January. The whole month of December is a whirl of rehearsals. Knowing that this season can be stressful and overwhelming for worship planners and musicians alike, I want to encourage you to take some time now and consider what you are going to do to stay healthy spiritually and physically.
May I suggest you begin by taking a close look at your calendar and inking in some time for friends and family, maybe some breakfast dates or family fun events? Then commit to keeping the healthy habits you already have in place. Go throughout the holidays despite the busyness and keep your devotional time on track as well as your exercise routines. While this may be a busy time don’t forget to spend time in worship yourself. When it comes time for the services don’t worry if everything will come off perfectly; you’ve done your best to prepare. Now come and behold him.
What practices have kept you nourished in spirit and body during this busy season?
