Sometimes worship leaders get caught up in worship so much that we don’t look around us to see what else is going on in the life of the congregation. I’ve done that. I’ve had the attitude that worship is about God (which it is) but nothing else should interfere with that particular thing. There are other ministries in the life of the congregation that we need to emphasize or recognize in worship.
Some of our worship services are wrapped around addressing a particular ministry or cause. In a few weeks, our theme will be based on Disabilities Awareness. In a few months we will celebrate Mission Emphasis Sunday. I’m sure you have special Sundays throughout the year that you plan a special service with that theme in mind.
Just like we thematically plan worship for Christmas and Easter, we look at the different ways we can plan worship with different ministries in mind. Sometimes we invite others to worship planning to help us think about what worship should include. These are all helpful to worshippers and planners to think outside of the box of our traditional mode of planning.
So here’s what I would like to hear from you. What kinds of worship services do you have for your congregation that included other ministries? Special times in worship that included others who normally do not worship lead? Worship services that possibly highlight another ministry in your congregation?
