Thank you for posting this. We, as followers of Jesus, must take a strong stand in solidarity with those who have been harmed, and have died, due to the failure of white people, like me, refusing to do the necessary work, to make the necessary sacrifices, to overcome racism and correct the false narrative of white supremacy, the "original sin" of the U.S.A. May God have mercy, may he grant us his help, may we together seek a better tomorrow.

Safe Church is happy to assist churches hosting events such as this with funds in varying amounts from our annual mini-grant program. (We approved funding for 9 different events in 2020, 5 in Canada and the 4 in the U.S.)

We are also very happy to partner with Dove's Nest in offering Circle of Grace, a safe environment program for children and youth. We're certainly not alone in our efforts to end child abuse and appreciate our partners outside of the CRC, such as Dove's Nest.

We're so happy to have Becky as a part of Safe Church Ministry. And we're looking forward to improving connections and networking capacity among safe church coordinators, team members, churches, and classes in Ontario; we're certain that Becky will play a key role in making that happen. Welcome Becky!

This is a very helpful article - Thanks. I often pray for that deep sense of knowing, which gives me confidence and peace to move forward and to stay in that path. It's not an easy thing - I find encouragement knowing that God wants us to know him and to know his will. He doesn't play hide-and-seek games, rather he longs to reveal more of himself to hearts that seek him.

Thanks for posting! Leaders need to be humble to acknowledge their own need for and dependency on Christ - and as followers we need desperately to grant the gift of humanity to our leaders, which makes it easier for them to be honest. Leaders need a place to go with their struggles, we're not called to bear our burdens alone. False expectations for leaders that might pressure leaders to keep their struggles hidden don't help anyone. We're in this together, leaders and followers, called to become the blessed community of forgiven saints. Thanks again for wise words Mark.

We are all called to serve one another in love. That's what Jesus showed us, and the Spirit empowers us to be other-centered, which is very counter-cultural! This is good - thanks.

Thank you so much Beth for sharing these reflections. So much resonates with me - especially the part about the compassion and commitment of so many safe church volunteers, coordinators, and committee members who are the very heart of the ministry, and who have, "brought joy to weariness and brought hope to frustration." And I agree wholeheartedly that it was God who started this transforming work, and continues to work through his people, the church.

"What is God up to now?" We'll have to wait and see.

Thanks again!

Excellent Article - I too used to create mix tapes - and indeed they did sooth and strengthen my soul and offered opportunity for expression that I might not find elsewhere. This is a great paradigm for the Psalms! Perhaps I need to spend more time listening there. Thank you.
