Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Shannon. I completely agree about giving youth ownership as early as possible. One of my best church experiences in high school was serving on the Pastor Search committee. I felt so honored to be included and was humbled to have my voice heard. I think the earlier we place youth in positions of church leadership, the more comfortable they will be when the opportunity comes up to step in to a role such as deacon.

Forgot to ask, what kind of leadership tasks or mentoring would be part of the paid internship? Sounds like an interesting model and I'd love to hear a bit more about how it would work!

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the comment. I believe the article you are referring to is CRC Launches Search for New Mission Agency Director and the feedback can be sent to [email protected]. However, I think you have a great idea to instead have conversation take place on The Network!
Thanks for sharing this post on the search. I left a comment asking if there are any specific questions or thoughts you wanted to share related to the search for a director for the New Missions Agency. A specific question may spark conversation or discussion on this search.
Thanks again!

I love that you mention Chronicles of Narnia. I grew up with my Dad reading me those books and the story style in which they are written (full of adventure, conflict, etc.) was incredibly helpful in my faith development.

Lately I've really been inspired and challenged by the Rend Collective song Joy of the Lord.
This song encourages me to lean on the JOY and HOPE of the Lord, no matter the circumstances. My favorite part of the song are the lines: "The joy of the Lord is my strength, In the darkness I’ll dance, In the shadows I’ll sing, The joy of the Lord is my strength."

This is one of my favorites too, Laura!

Thanks, Roger! Completely agree that we shouldn't be offended by the way others celebrate these holidays (I LOVED a good Easter Egg hunt growing up). But I also hope to be on the lookout for ways I can share what Christmas and Easter mean for me as a Jesus follower.
