Financial Shalom Resources (Sept. 2020)

Financial Shalom is a CRCNA program designed to improve the financial well-being of all the CRCNA’s pastors. The program provides grants to help pastors meet immediate needs and training, tools, and resources to strengthen the financial education of pastors and churches. This is the first monthly update.

If you haven’t heard of the Financial Shalom program or taken advantage of our offerings, please visit our website! Let me highlight a few resources for your financial well-being:

1. Grants for CRCNA Pastors: The deadline to apply for our student loan relief and critical financial need grants is October 15th. Haven’t heard of these grants for CRCNA pastors before? Learn more and apply on the Financial Shalom website (here).

2. Free Financial Counseling: If you are an ordained CRCNA pastor or seminarian, you can receive up to six free(!), confidential sessions with our new partner, LSS Financial Counseling. With special expertise in empowering faith leaders, LSS can help you clarify your financial situation and determine your best next steps (here).

3. Five Leadership Qualities for a Financially Healthy Church: The CRCNA’s director of finances and operations, John Bolt and Philip Leo, director of church communications at Barnabas Foundation discuss this topic via webinar (here).

4. Offerings as Part of Worship: This resource of Diaconal Ministries offers practical liturgical guidance on leading your church in offertories (here).

5. COVID-19 Church Engagement Fund: Does your church need help meeting budget due to pandemic-related losses? Or perhaps you have more than enough to share? Consider if you are called to apply for or contribute to the CRCNA’s relief fund (here).
