I have a question for churches who make bulletins available via a link on their website. What policies or guidelines do you use to protect people's privacy? For example, if someone has a new phone number or address change, do you usually include that information in your bulletin, or do you use other means to get that kind of information out to members of the congregation?

Thanks!

That's a great question! Many churches are posting the weekly bulletin in a password-protected section of the church website. Congregation members are given the password, so they can easily access the bulletin, but the bulletin and the information on it can't be accessed by people outside of the congregation.

Related to this, many congregations are starting to use first names only when praying for members in the congregational prayer during the service, since many churches now stream their services and make them available on online video platforms. The full name can be in the (password protected) bulletin, but using first names only in the prayer protects the privacy of the individuals prayed for.
