What is a CSR?
CSR stands for Customer Service Representative. This position was first made specifically for Faith Alive Christian resources. Over the years it has pivoted into being the CSRs not just for Faith Alive Christian Resources, but for the denomination as a whole. Now, our home is in Thrive, the denomination's congregational support agency. We are the first voices you hear when you call the denomination. Whether it's a simple transfer, an answer to an inquiry, a phone order, or you need someone to chat with, we aim to provide you with excellent customer service.
What does a typical day of supporting CRCNA members look like for you?
My very first customers are my friendly team members. Sharing kindness and laughter via team chat every morning is a great way to start the day. Next, I review and respond to internal emails from other teams and staff. I then listen to customer voicemails and call back to assist as needed, respond to sales emails for Faith Alive to place orders, and process subscription requests for Today Daily Devotionals and the Banner. While managing these tasks, I also handle incoming phone calls and chats and attend scheduled meetings. Many of our callers are elderly and are often very polite, funny, and grateful, making it a pleasure to work with them.
How did you come into your role?
Our Lord led me to this place. I grew up in Presbyterian churches in California and didn't know anything about the CRC. At the time, my husband and I had recently moved from California to Nevada. Not knowing anyone there except Jesus, we were simply looking for a church community to call 'home' in our neighborhood. This unexpectedly turned out to be the hardest thing to do over the next several years.
We found that Jesus’ Lordship and Presence were lacking in many churches; they felt like human gatherings without Christ. In search of the true body of Christ, we knocked on the doors of many local churches. We happened to be attending a CRC church when they posted a job for an English-Korean bilingual for the Faith Alive Customer Service Team and the Discover Your Bible Series Translation Team for the Global Coffee Break in Resonate, CRCNA. It has been almost three years, and I still enjoy everything I do and everyone I meet.
What brings you the most joy as you connect with people every day?
I am so grateful that I’m able to share the love and kindness of Jesus! I want to encourage others with the knowledge that our lives are all about Him, so there is no need to worry or be afraid. When we are connected to Jesus and reach out to grab another’s hand, we are truly helping the Body of Christ.
