Every pastor has a list of go-to sermon prep resources, but if yours doesn't include, you're missing out on something great.

This website, a collaborative project of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, the Christian Classics Ethereal Library, and, houses sermon illustrations, articles, commentary and exegesis, service outlines, and much more. The site is packed with helpful resources, but the topical studies offered there should earn a permanent shortcut on your computer desktop.

Writers and theologians such as Neal Plantinga, Scott Hoezee, Leonard VanderZee and others have provided brief but pithy definitions of a wide variety of biblical topics such as the kingdom of God, faith, hope, love, compassion, Advent and Pentecost, pride, the image of God, and dozens more. Those definitions are followed by a list of important Scriptures in which the topic appears and some helpful reflections called "Points to Ponder."

Next time you find yourself needing to explain the difference between envy and covetousness or tease out the nuances of Christ's divinity and humanity, these topical studies are the place to start. And while you're on the site, you can also bring up a list of hymns and songs by topic, find a great children's message, or locate the perfect quote by your favorite author. Enjoy!
