“These are the days,” sings the song. “These are the days of Elijah… Moses… Ezekiel… David.”  These are the great days of the Bible. The great days when God spoke and heroes of the faith responded. Who hasn’t day-dreamed at some point in their life about what it would have been like to live in Bible times? You know, those days when God acted, when God spoke, when people were directed by Him. What a cool testimony, right?

Well, guess what? You live in ‘Bible’ times!

God is still acting.

God is still speaking.

God is still directing His people.

God is still calling His people.

God is still adopting people.

God is still empowering people.

God is still sending people.

Children of God, these are the days of God moving! You may think that God is hanging back, waiting to see what will happen as world leaders and medical professionals scramble for solutions. He is not. He is not sitting idly by singing “Que Sera Sera! Whatever will be will be!”

He is the God of the Universe… the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s… the One and Only God who holds the future in His cosmic hands. He’s the Alpha and Omega! He’s not just the God of the beginning and the end, He’s also the Sovereign One reigning over every millisecond of the in-between.

Psalm 97: 1-6 says,

The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
    let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire goes before him
    and consumes his foes on every side.

His lightning lights up the world;
    the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
    before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all peoples see his glory.

Beloved of God, I am confident of this: the shadow and gloom of Covid-19 will result in God’s glory being seen by all peoples. He is still reigning! He’s still listening to the prayers of His people.

So, let’s continue to stand in the gap and pray for the glory of the Lord to be revealed in this situation. Let us reflect on our lives and turn from our sin. Let us set the example of repentance as we continue to pray for miraculous intervention. Let us continue to pray that this season of isolation and introspection results in the seeds of faith being planted and ultimately, resulting in an abundant harvest… such that the shores of distant lands, and the shores of our own land rejoice, as many more come to know that these are the days of God’s great deliverance.

The concluding verses of Psalm 27 invite us to watch, and wait, and pray:

I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

May all peoples see your goodness, Lord! May your presence be revealed in this Covid-age, that you would receive the glory that you and you alone, oh Lord, are due; for these are the days of your moving. Amen.
